Candle melts, or wax melts, are scented pieces of wax. They are similar to regular candles, except that they don’t have a wick. Instead of burning them, like we do we candles, wax melts are placed in a warmer and melted gradually. They release their fragrance as they melt, filling your home with beautiful scents.

With a burning candle, you light the wick and the heat causes the candle to release the scent. A candle melt works differently. The candle melt is usually placed in a bowl or pot at the top of a warmer, electricity causes the warmer to heat up underneath the wax. The wax the melts slowly and the scent is released.

what are candle melts

Candle melts are often much safer than traditional burning candles.Although candle melts can be compatible with warmers that still use an open flame, such as a tea light warmer, many warmers are electric.

An electric warmer simply plugs into the wall. The electricity generates heat which gradually melts the wax. You can leave an electric candle warmer burning for long periods of time and do not have to supervise it in the same way you would a burning candle.

The absence of an open flame is one of the most attractive things about electric candle warmers, especially for people who have children or pets at home or those who are occasionally  forgetful.

Candle melts come in a variety of shapes and sizes, including snap bars, fun shapes and tarts. For those who like to change the fragrances in their home frequently, candle melts offer a lot of variety.

Unlike traditional candles, the wax of candle melts does not evaporate. Instead, only the fragrance evaporates. Luckily, cleaning up the wax is relatively easy. Simply turn off your burner, wait for the wax to cool and then before the wax begins to harden, wipe it up using a cloth or a paper towel.

Many candle lovers are making the change to wax melts instead. One of the reasons for this is the strength of the fragrance. Most traditional candles use a fragrance load below 7%. Anything higher than this could cause the wick to fail or even explode.

As wax melts do not have a wick, they can have a fragrance load of up to 12%. The higher the fragrance load, the stronger the smell will be. This means that your candle warmer could produce a stronger smell than your burning candles.

Additionally, you can reduce and increase the smell of your wax melts by changing how much wax you add to your burner. If you are looking for a reduced scent, you can break the candle melt up and add smaller amounts. If you want a stronger scent, you just need to add more wax.

The improved safety, stronger scents and the lower prices are just some of the reasons why many people are now using candle melts in their home. I’m definitely happy that I made the switch from burning candles to candle melts!
